Announcement from the Former Rockford Branch of Workers World Party and Members from Wisconsin, July 20, 2018
The Workers World Party Rockford Branch and members in Wisconsin have deliberated and debated the future of Workers World Party and our place in it. Through the organizational struggle within the Party, clear deviations from the National Question and the LGBTQ+ Question have shown themselves in Party leadership. These issues combined with the refusal to uphold national committee voting outcomes and a lack of clarity or even basic response from leadership has made it clear that we can no longer uphold the party line of Workers World Party.
The democratization process within the Party has brought out some of the most opportunist elements within the Party. Purposely delaying the reorganization effort of a Party and cutting off input from one of the most oppressed cities, majority Black and Brown, within the Party is for the DNC, not Communists. Furthermore, the response to completely destroy the Central Committee when a section of leadership doesn’t want to engage in debate and struggle is outrageous at the very least.
For these reasons, among others, the Rockford branch and members in Wisconsin resign from Workers World Party as of July 20, 2018.
We will continue to build the movement for socialism against all forms of oppression.
